As she staggered further into the night, a layer of gloom seemed to settle on her. She stumbled forward and tripped on something dumped on the ground. With a simple push of the tiny shiny button the umbrella popped opened and the most wondrous thing fell out. A small, snow white, fluffy cloud hopped out of the sun lit umbrella. Floating in mid air, as slow as a snail it started hover forward into the night, the minuscule cloud was leading her somewhere, maybe it was going to lead her back home? This is the first paragraph of my writing!

As the night moves on, there's still no sign of anything around her, then a light opens up ahead it must be morning her legs hurt so much she just needed to rest that's when she saw it silhouetted in the illuminating sky the cloud had led her to a house but as it came further into view she saw it was not an ordinary house the paint was peeling off the walls and the whole structure looked as old as time itself. The cloud moved closer, so did she. Soon she was right next to the wall It was then that she heard it… Whispers behind the door! With that the cloud vanished with a pop, panicked she froze with nothing to do but stand there in the middle of nowhere in the forest and listen, nothing happens, had they heard her or had she hallucinated it, there was only one way to find out. As she pushed the door open it creaked on its hinges. No one stood behind the door no footsteps echoed through the house everything was silent, as she walked over the threshold she heard a buzz behind her and she turned expecting to see the open door she had just walked through but instead she saw a grey peeling wall the house had trapped her in! This is the second paragraph of my writing there is still one paragraph that I haven't finished.

BTW there is a sentence in red because we had to use it in our writing!

Who am I? (it's kind of obvious)

Who am I?

Puffing I raise my axe above my head and bring it down slicing the trunk of an old pine tree letting off a distinctive smell like dew drops. The turban around my head shifts on the little hair I’ve grown back since my beating.People describe me as gusty and I guess I am, so he killed them my friends, my family, and now there is now one left I love.

It starts to spit, I shudder “can you bring me back, I can’t stand rain” my hard voice echoes through the woods, suddenly a hovercraft appears in front of me and just before I get on board it happens, suddenly I’m strapped to a cold metal wall and a bucket of ice cold water is dubbed on my head, in the distance the light of a taser comes to life and there is intense pain in my back as my screams filled the dark cell.

I stumble forward out of the rain and under the shelter of the hovercraft where a gentle voice meets me “ did you have a flashback” it said

“Yeah, what do you think, brainless” I growl back,

A man with bronze hair walks into the light “I'm one of the capitals least favorite victors”.

“ I don’t blame them, you are kind of crazy” he says. I sit down on a fluffy couch and start to relax as I watch the forest of my home drift out of view!

Fountain

Yelling and screaming with delight the kids all ran around over the slippery floor where sudden jets of water would shoot up out of the ground at random. A stream of powder blue water shot up next to me and the droplets fell from the sides spraying my face with icy beads. I wonder if any of them will slip and fall on the wet slick ground like someone tripping on a rock. It must be about 7:00 because the sun is setting orange glows over the trees making shadows.

My Hero

The person who is my hero is Scarlet witch.

This person is my hero because She is my favorite Marvel character.

Two words that describe this person are kind and creepy.

One thing the person does that I admire is She has had a bad back story because her parents are dead but she is still saving the world!

One way I can be more like my hero is by getting powers.

Are you a hero? Yes, Write a few sentences telling about something that you did that you think was heroic. So once upon a time I was walking on a beach called Whiritoa and I came across a little blue penguin And then I saw that it was dead, So I picked it up with some sticks and I dug a hole then put Pingu in it, ( the penguin was called Pingu ) I put some sand on top and made a little cross for it!

Real or Fake?

As I walked in to school this morning I saw lots of people  crowding around something, I  squeezed into the crowd to have a closer look I saw a meteorite on a pile of dirt with small rocks scattered all around and smoke was coming out from under it.

 But as I took a closer look I started to see sings that it was fake a worm for example it would not have been able to breath up there and in the dirt there is polistiren.

This year I  have enjoyed our team camp, feeding the fish and looking after the chickens.

Title:  3 weirdest sports in England

Think about it, what does shin kicking, toe wrestling and cheese rolling all have in common? You might think there is nothing at all but have you ever heard of them? Well, you probably have not but they are all sports! Sports that I would not think to be popular but they are.  Hi my name is Zoe and today I’m going to tell you about the 3 weirdest sports in England and I think they are the 3 weirdest sports in the WORLD!.

England is known for a sport called shin kicking. Shin kicking, also known as hacking or purring is an ancient sport part of the annual Cotswold Olimpick games.These games probably began in 1612 and straightway skin kicking was very popular.

How to play this weird game is easy, all you have to do is kick your opponents shins until they fall to the ground in pain, then you win. TIP: stuff your pants and socks with straw the pain does not go to your shins as much.

England is known for another sport called toe wrestling. It was invented by four drinkers in Ye Olde Royal Oak Inn, in Wellington, Staffordshire in 1974. They were moaning about the fact that the United Kingdom struggled to have any world champions in any sport. Having already tried ear wrestling and push of war with a scaffolding pole, (sounds dangerous), they thought of toe wrestling. A rule board was made by the sign writers at the Yorkshire Evening Post and even a small trophy was made.

Toe wrestling is quite a simple game, all you have to do is get two pieces of wood and put them not too far apart to make a space for each person foot, like an open ended box. Then you put your foot in the middle of them and get someone to do the same on the other side. Next put your feet together and try to push the other person's foot onto one of the sides of the box, the wood. But at the same time the other person is going to try and push your foot to the opposite piece of wood so its not as easy as it sounds.

The last weird sport England is known for, wait for it, cheese rolling! Competitors take part in the annual Cheese rolling event at Cooper's Hill. This ceremony originally took place each Whit Monday before it moved to the spring bank holiday.  Two possible reasons why it started have been suggested for the ceremony. The first said that it evolved from a way for keeping grazing rights on the common, an area of shared land in the middle of the town. The second idea is that it is from a pagan custom of rolling objects down the hill.

How it works is, you have a round wheel of Double Gloucester cheese and you roll it down a steep hill. As soon as the cheese is let go, you run down the hill after it and the first person to get to the bottom of the hill wins the cheese.

Cheese rolling can be quite a dangerous sport because of the steepness of the hill. There have been several injuries including broken legs and arms. Once, when a sudden thunderstorm interrupted the race in 1982, four adults and children who were zapped by lightning. Ouch!

Wow, now you know 3 of the craziest sports in England and I think in the world! Which one would you like to try? I think when I’m older I might try toe wrestling.

We all sat down and Virginia said that we needed to wash our shoes to keep Kauri die back out of the forest.

             

We scrubbed and sprayed our shoes and then explored the forest.

                                                                           

After that Virginia sheared the life circle of a leaf and played a life circle game with her.                                                                          

We used a pooter which is a easy (but disgusting) way to catch but not hurting them.

Crustacean's

Crustacean galore

Have you ever heard of a Crustacean? Crustaceans, in my opinion I think they are pretty cool animals. They are a group of invertebrates like crabs, lobsters, shrimp and many other animals. There are about 30,000 species of crustaceans.

You can find them on land, and in the sea but you would usually find them in rock pools.  When they are 2-4 years old they move into the deep waters so you would only find small Crustaceans in rock pools which I usually would find.

Crustaceans feed on scraps and dead things usually night. They breathe oxygen like us humans but through gills like fish so they can breath under water.  

Shrimp are my favorite crustaceans ever they are so amazing because there are seven species and they serve as cleaners for other fish.

We humans eat a lot of crustaceans from the sea ( I think squid rings are there the best I just had to say that) so we need to protect them. You can help by making sure no rubbish in the sea.

Dear Prime Minister,

Sorry to bother you but do you know about Garden to Table? Well if you do not, I can tell you that it's really fun. I think that you should let other schools have the Garden to Table program as well. You can get lots of new skills and experiences.

When you are in the garden you can water plants, pick vegetables for the kitchen, plant new seedlings and improve the garden.  In the kitchen you cook food, put it on plates nicely and (well both garden and kitchen do it but) eat the food. In Garden to Table we also learn maths and reading skills, especially when we read from the recipes.

Garden to Table helps us try new things. I had a banana skin muffin! I know it sounds AWFUL but guess what, it was delicious. I also had tofu. It looked like a SQUISHY MASH but all the same it was delicious. There was also a green smoothie it looked GROSS but once again it was delicious.

I think you should really come and try our food that we cook and even cook in the kitchen yourself using vegetables from our garden. We hope you will help other school have the Garden to Table program and build more gardens .
